I am a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Registered Counsellor. I bring to my work with clients considerable experience as a professional within the helping professions and have been counselling since 1995. I have helped a wide range of people, individually, as couples and in groups, with a great variety of presenting problems, including: work related issues, relationship difficulties, drugs and alcohol, bereavement, terminal illness, disability issues and anxiety. I am a counselling supervisor and trainer and I am also a qualified Special Educational Needs teacher specialising in dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties.
My professional orientation is integrative with a strong grounding in existentialist philosophies. I believe most people, even if at an unconscious level, are searching for meaning in life and by listening, I attempt to put into words the thoughts and patterns of relating that seem to appear which then help to build up a clearer picture of where that person wants to go.
